Monotypes
Monotype refers to a printmaking method in which a single image is created on a printing plate, and the print pulled from that plate is the single print in the edition. Many mediums can be used when making monotypes, such as printing ink, oil paint, watercolor, and collage.
Some of the prints on this page are referred to as “ghosts,” which is the term for when a monotype print is ran through the press a second time, resulting in a second, lighter, version of the first print.
